About the Western Star 47X and 49X

Applications

The entire Western Star X series was engineered from the ground up to be the toughest and most customizable trucks on the market.  The 49X is your ideal work truck for applications that require big power such as car haulers, logging, excavator, sewer vacs, construction, and low-boy hauling. For jobs that need more maneuverability, like mixers, crane trucks, and dump trucks, the 47X has a shorter hood and tighter turning radius to get the job done.

Powertrain Options

Both models can be specced with Detroit or Cummins engines and Detroit, Eaton Fuller, or Allison transmissions. The Detroit DT12 vocational transmissions offer features specially suited to tough working environments.

Safety

The Western Star 47x and 49X are what you get when you combine the toughest truck out there with the most technologically advanced suite of active safety systems available to the vocational market. Armed with Detroit Assurance features like active brake assist side guard assist, and brake hold mode can make your work site safer than it’s ever been.
