Leasing Customer Spotlight: Williams Institutional Foods

When a company becomes a leasing customer of ours, they essentially become part of the Tom Nehl family. We partner with them for the long term and treat their business needs as if they were our own. One of our longtime leasing customers is Williams Institutional Foods. We asked Mac McCrary to describe his experience with Tom Nehl Truck Leasing in his own words:

Williams Institutional Foods is a 73-year-old family owned and family run business in the Southeast Georgia town of Douglas.  Williams is a broadline foodservice distributor with a heavy focus on school foodservice covering the majority of the state of Georgia.  We had very humble beginnings as a local abattoir and processor in our hometown.  A number of years later we shifted our focus to distribution and eventually stopped processing all together.  We started with a single panel van and now run a fleet of around 60 trucks.  Our fleet is comprised of single and tandem axle tractors as well as non-CDL straight body reefers.  Tom Nehl has been able to help us with all of them. 

Around 20 years ago we were introduced to Bret Catto and the Tom Nehl team. Bret listened as we explained our business and our needs, and it was determined that a full-service lease with the option to purchase best suited us.  We are very fortunate to have our own shop with 3 very skilled technicians.  They perform all our day-to-day maintenance needs and Tom Nehl picks up where they leave off if needed. 

I would say Tom Nehl Leasing saved the day for us during the heart of the Covid 19 pandemic.  Our business is ever-changing and we are seldom afforded the convenience of forecasting our truck needs.  As Covid eased we were blessed with a large influx of business in time when there was little to no equipment inventory and lead times were off the charts.  As always, Tom Nehl made it happen! We acquired several short-term rentals and began working on getting some additional units of our own in the pipeline. Because of this we were able to meet all of our previous obligations and take on a great deal of new business in a time when others couldn’t.  This would certainly not have been possible without the Tom Nehl Team! 

I would say to anyone considering leasing/purchasing, you owe it to yourself to have a conversation.  This relationship we have built with Tom Nehl over the years is just that in every sense of the word.  Our needs were unique and they were met without hesitation. We are a service-focused company that puts a tremendous amount of value in our vendor relationships and have no doubt Tom Nehl operates the same.  The entire team at Tom Nehl from the front of the house to the back have always been there and have always taken nothing but the best care of us!  Thank you for your dedication from all of us here at Williams!
